SPEAKING EXPERIENCE

This is the video that started it all

In 2014, I made a YouTube video after being frustrated with the my experience being a patient in the hospital. I had been in the hospital for four days with aseptic meningitis, and I had excruciating headaches and nausea. I was getting high doses of steroids, and it was very difficult to go to sleep. When I would finally fall asleep, someone would come in and wake me up, especially at 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning. They wouldn't just come in once, but instead it was a parade of medical students, residents, and doctors which made it impossible to sleep. That along with other frustrations sparked my first video. My mom sent it to a few friends because she works in healthcare and thought they would enjoy my rant, and the next thing I knew, it was being featured on Forbes and trending as the number one story.

This is the video and Forbes story that started it all.

Me speaking at Community Health Network

The Forbes Headline

I was invited to speak on the main stage at the Cleveland Clinic. I was interviewed to tell my story as a patient. I discovered that I loved speaking, and I was invited to speak at many other locations after doctors and administrators heard my story.

I have been fortunate enough to speak at great institutions such as Dignity Health, Community Health Network, Vocera, Inc, Stanford Medical School, Christiana Care Health System, and HealthSparq. I have also gotten to be part of vision and action plan creation, and I have been able to provide consulting on patient experience projects. Some examples of my speaking events are below.
